Dr. Rommel Sergio’s Sekolohiya Group set up counseling sessions at the recently held SAGIP Community Outreach Program, giving Filipino workers in Dubai a private setting to talk through personal difficulties and receive professional psychosocial guidance. The mental health component sat alongside several other services aimed at supporting Overseas Filipino Workers facing hardship in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
Career guidance formed another pillar of the day. Dubayans ran a Career Coaching Session that walked participants through professional advice and pathways for advancement, while the Good Neighbour Group teamed with Vital Zone Homecare Clinic to carry out Wellness Assessments, checking on participants’ health and pushing preventive care within the community.
Cargo assistance rounded out the practical help on offer. Under the leadership of President Ms. Rumelyn Aribon, the League of Freight Forwarders arranged free balikbayan box and padala services for chosen beneficiaries, allowing them to send goods to family in the Philippines. Six cargo companies took part: Cabalen Express, EGT UMAC, FRICO, LBC, Pinas Cargo, and SBC Cargo.
The program was organized by Infinite Communities and UAE Lottery in coordination with the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai. Consul Aleah Marie Gica represented the Consulate at the event, restating its focus on the welfare of Filipinos across the United Arab Emirates.
Organizers framed the initiative as an expression of bayanihan, pulling together government, community groups, healthcare providers, and private companies to reach Filipinos during a period of difficulty.
