Filipino workers in Saudi Arabia may get faster help under new OWWA partnership

Domestic workers and caregivers bound for Saudi Arabia could see expanded training and smoother digital access to government welfare services under partnerships discussed Thursday between the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and a visiting Saudi delegation.

Mr. Ahmad Alangari, Vice President for Strategic Partnerships, led the team from Takamol Holding-MUSANED to the OWWA NCR Office for a benchmarking visit centered on how both sides might work together. Among the priorities raised was linking OWWA membership with MUSANED’s digital platform, a move intended to let OFWs in the Kingdom register, renew, and tap benefits with greater ease.

The two parties also examined ways to strengthen the PDOS-CPDEP orientation so that workers heading to Saudi Arabia arrive better informed about their duties, entitlements, and day-to-day conditions abroad. Additional talks covered upskilling programs for household staff and caregivers, along with quicker channels for handling assistance requests coursed through the OWWA Hotline 1348.

Administrator Patricia Yvonne “PY” Caunan received the delegation alongside Deputy Administrator Ryan Vincent Uy, OWWA NCR Director Ma. Teresa Capa, Director Sherilyn Malonzo, and Repatriation Chief Dr. Amelito Adel. In presenting the agency’s work, OWWA described its role as the government’s lead body for the social protection of OFWs and their dependents.

The Saudi visitors received a rundown of the agency’s welfare offerings, which span emergency repatriation, reintegration, livelihood aid, and financial support for members and their families. A walkthrough of the NCR Office rounded out the visit, giving the delegation a firsthand look at how frontline staff deliver assistance to Filipino workers.
