A 30-year-old Filipino worker is recovering at Sorokoa Medical Center after sustaining a leg injury when Iranian ballistic missiles struck Arad, a town in southern Israel, on Saturday evening, March 21, 2026. The Philippine Embassy in Israel said the worker was expected to be discharged on Tuesday.
Iran said the strikes on Arad and the nearby town of Dimona were carried out in retaliation for an attack on its Natanz nuclear facility earlier the same day. Israeli health authorities reported a total of 180 injuries across both towns — 116 in Arad and 64 in Dimona. The BBC separately reported that some of those injured were in serious condition.
Embassy personnel conducted welfare visits on March 22 to the injured worker and to other Filipino residents in Arad and Dimona whose homes suffered minor structural damage from the strikes. Food packages were distributed during the visits. Filipinos whose residences were damaged have since moved in with fellow community members, while others have been given temporary accommodation at a hotel near the Dead Sea.
The embassy said it “continues to monitor the recovery of the injured Filipino and the wellbeing of affected kababayan, and will provide psychosocial and mental health support services in the coming days.”
The identity of the injured worker has not been disclosed. His condition at the time of the embassy visit was stable enough that a discharge date had already been set.
