More than 8.2 million journeys were taken across Dubai’s transport network over the recent Eid Al Adha holiday, the Roads and Transport Authority reported.
The tally spans five days, from 25 to 29 May, and pulls together usage of every mode the authority oversees: the Metro, the Tram, buses, marine routes, taxis and shared mobility options.
Taxis proved the second-busiest category after rail, moving 2.3 million riders through a combination of Dubai Taxi and licensed franchise operators. Buses serving public routes handled 1.73 million trips over the same stretch.
The Metro remained the backbone of the system. Its Red and Green Lines together carried 3.3 million passengers, more than any other single mode.
Smaller services rounded out the count. Marine transport recorded 304,300 trips, the Tram logged 114,300, and shared mobility offerings such as app-booked vehicles, hourly car rentals and Bus-On-Demand together drew 402,700 users.
RTA framed the totals as evidence that commuters and visitors are leaning more heavily on its services when demand spikes around holidays and large-scale events.
The authority also pointed to its expanding digital footprint, reporting that more than 628 million transactions ran through its online channels during 2025. That marked a 13 per cent climb on the prior year, with takings from those channels reaching AED 5.3 billion, a 20.6 per cent annual increase.
Across six platforms, RTA now lists 105 services that can be accessed online, with 96 per cent of dealings handled digitally and customer satisfaction measured at 98 per cent over the year.
