Dubai Police seizes nearly 500kg drugs and 3.3 million narcotic pills in 3 months

The Dubai Police announced that they confiscated 491kg of drugs and 3.3 million narcotic pills within the past three months. The haul included illicit substances such as cocaine, heroin, crystal meth, opium, marijuana, and hashish.

The anti-narcotics department revealed that nearly half of the suspects linked to drug cases in the UAE during the second quarter were apprehended by the Dubai Police. Moreover, the force was responsible for detecting and shutting down 560 social media accounts involved in promoting drug-related content.

The collaborative efforts extended beyond national borders as the Dubai Police shared pivotal intelligence with multiple countries, including Australia, the UK, Saudi Arabia, China, the Philippines, Kuwait, Germany, India, and Pakistan. This international coordination resulted in the arrest of 28 individuals overseas, and the confiscation of an additional 431kg of drugs.

Lieutenant-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, commander-in-chief of the Dubai Police, commended the relentless efforts of the anti-narcotics department. He emphasized their pivotal role in safeguarding the community against the scourge of drugs and disbanding distribution networks.

Additionally, underlining the importance of community outreach and education, Colonel Dr Abdul Rahman Sharaf, director of Hemaya International Centre, pointed out that 28,000 students benefited from their 71 educational initiatives. These awareness campaigns, especially those on social media, have made a significant impact, reaching over 776,000 individuals.
