Dubai Metro implements new safety measures amidst ongoing operational challenges

In a bid to enhance passenger safety amidst ongoing challenges, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai announced on Tuesday the implementation of new daily protocols at Dubai Metro stations.

The RTA revealed that ‘crowd management protocols’ would be rigorously enforced during peak hours, specifically from 7am to 9.30am and 5pm to 8.30pm. Passengers are strongly encouraged to plan their trips in advance, with the RTA installing signboards at stations and station staff present to assist commuters.

“We apologise for any inconvenience and reassure you that our foremost concern is ensuring you reach your destinations,” the RTA emphasized.

Dubai Metro, which has yet to resume full operations following the unprecedented rainfall on April 16, continues to face challenges. Notably, four stations — Onpassive, Equiti, Al Mashreq, and Energy — remain closed.

Last week, the RTA issued an advisory urging commuters to “avoid using the Metro during peak hours” and to plan their journeys based on the operational status of stations.
