Sponge Cola and Karylle to headline pre-Valentine’s concert in Dubai

OPM band Sponge Cola and multi-hyphenate performer Karylle will headline a one-night concert in Dubai next February, giving the UAE’s Filipino community a nostalgia-laden way to open Valentine’s weekend.

Billed as “Sponge Cola & Karylle: Mundong Puno ng Pag-ibig” (A World Full of Love), the show runs February 13, 2027 at The Agenda in Dubai Media City. It is organized by UAE-based events company Spearhead One, which is pitching the evening as a pre-Valentine’s celebration built around music, romance, and memories of home.

The concert title borrows a line from Sponge Cola’s own love song “Pag-ibig,” whose chorus imagines “isang mundong puno ng pag-ibig.” The band, active since the early 2000s, is behind mainstays such as “Jeepney,” “Tuloy Pa Rin,” and “Pasubali,” and remains a fixture of Filipino pop-rock catalogs at home and overseas.

Karylle brings a career that has spanned music, television, film, and theater, from her breakout as Sang’gre Alena in “Encantadia” to her long-running role as host and judge on the noontime show “It’s Showtime.” The pairing carries a personal dimension as well: Karylle has been married to Sponge Cola frontman Yael Yuzon since 2014, making the love-themed billing more than marketing.

Spearhead One Chief Executive Officer Donny Dones framed the show in emotional terms, describing a live performance as a moment where a singer becomes “a conduit” and the crowd moves as one before the feeling fades.
