Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah – have made it to the list of the top ten most affordable cities globally, according to a recent survey by Workyard Research. Kuwait tops this list, with New York being the least affordable city.
Kuwait, ranked as the most affordable city, boasts an average monthly income of $6,199 and living expenses of just $752.70. This ratio allows residents to retain a significant portion of their salary after basic expenses.
Abu Dhabi follows closely in second place. Residents there earn an average of $7,154 monthly and spend around $873.10 on living costs. Riyadh claims the third spot with residents earning $6,245 monthly and incurring living expenses of $814.90.
Dubai and Sharjah rank fourth and fifth, with residents earning monthly averages of $7,118 and $5,229, respectively. The monthly living expenses for these cities stand at $1,007 and $741.30.
The study analyzed data from 20 cities, considering the balance between average monthly incomes and living costs. Such expenses include rent, utilities, and food.
Outside the Middle East, Melbourne, Australia, is notable for its balance of earnings and living costs. Oslo, Norway, offers residents a high earning with moderate living costs, making it an attractive Nordic destination.
London and San Francisco are 8th and 9th, while Zurich completes the top ten.
New York, however, presents a challenge for its residents. Despite its reputation, New Yorkers on average earn about $4,205 monthly but spend a significant $1,448 on living costs.
Workyard’s research underlines the varying dynamics of income and living costs in cities worldwide. The firm suggests considering these cities for those contemplating relocation or just fantasizing about a new home.
