DMW hands out P2.6 million to distressed OFWs in Makati

Fifty-two distressed Overseas Filipino Workers received financial support from the Department of Migrant Workers–National Capital Region (DMW-NCR) on August 21, 2026, at the agency’s Makati office. The aid, drawn from the AKSYON Fund, totaled P2.6 million and formed part of the UPLIFT Program—the Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport—advanced by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. Officials distributed the funds to give qualified workers and their households immediate relief.

Regional Director Atty. Ace Falconi V. Millar led the awarding ceremony and walked recipients through the various forms of assistance available to them. He relayed a standing reminder from the department’s leadership as he addressed the gathering.

“Laging bilin ng ating Kalihim Hans Leo J. Cacdac, gamitin ang financial assistance sa kapaki-pakinabang na bagay para sa kinabukasan at kapakanan ng pamilya. Lumapit lang kayo. Bukas ang tanggapan ng DMW, tahanan ng mga OFW at ng inyong mga pamilya,” Atty. Millar said.

The agency directed OFWs and their families toward an upcoming job fair set for August 26, 2026, in San Andres, Manila, where attendees can explore employment and livelihood prospects.

Workers facing crisis or distress abroad may check their eligibility for the AKSYON Fund by reaching out to the nearest DMW Regional Office or Migrant Workers Office. Cases can be endorsed, when warranted, to the DSWD, TESDA, DTI, local government units, and other partner agencies. A full directory of offices and contact information is posted at https://dmw.gov.ph/contact-us.

The AKSYON Fund operates as part of the DMW’s continuing response under the UPLIFT initiative, which channels rapid assistance to migrant workers and their families caught in emergency and distress situations.
