Cristy Fermin ready to face court over Bea Alonzo’s libel complaint

Cristy Fermin has declared her readiness to confront legal proceedings following an online libel complaint filed by actress Bea Alonzo. Speaking on her show, Fermin disclosed that she and her co-hosts have not yet received the complaint. “Hindi pa po namin alam kung anu-ano ba ang nilalaman ng kaniyang sinumpaang salaysay kung bakit siya nagdemanda ng kasong libelo,” Fermin stated on “24 Oras.”

Although unaware of the specifics of the complaint, Fermin expressed a strong stance on maintaining her freedom of expression, respecting Alonzo’s right to file the case but asserting it would not deter her journalistic practices. “This will not be a reason to restrain our free expression,” she affirmed.

The complaint by Bea Alonzo revolves around the dissemination of what she considers false, malicious, and damaging information on the online shows hosted by Fermin and Ogie Diaz. This includes alleged defamation and false accusations regarding her financial dealings, specifically her tax payments.

Alonzo’s legal team, led by Atty. Joey Garcia, articulated the emotional toll these allegations have taken on her, stating, “She was greatly devastated, she was affected by all these defamatory statements thrown against her.”

The controversy follows the high-profile breakup between Alonzo and Dominic Roque, which became public earlier this year.
