Cebuano vlogger apologizes for creating kite with P1 million worth of bills

Cebuano vlogger Boy Tapang, known as Ronnie Suan, issued a public apology on his Facebook page after facing backlash for creating a kite using P1,000 bills worth P1 million.

The controversial vlog, now deleted, sparked negative reactions from netizens when it was posted earlier this month.

In his April 13 post, Suan disclosed that representatives from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) paid him a visit regarding the said content.

Explaining his actions, Boy Tapang clarified that he never intended to trivialize the P1,000 bills, given his past struggles with poverty. He emphasized that the content was created purely for entertainment purposes.

“I only made the kite content for entertainment purposes,” Suan stated in his post.

He further expressed regret, suggesting that using plastic materials would have been more acceptable for the kite-making endeavor.

“Now, I just want to tell everyone not to play around with money. Let’s value and respect money because it is very important in our lives,” he stressed, underlining the significance of upholding the integrity of Philippine currency.

Suan also urged those who shared his vlogs to remove them, extending his apologies to his viewers, supporters, and particularly to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

“I apologize to all my viewers, my supporters, and especially to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. I’m sorry for what happened. Thank you very much for understanding. Long live the Philippines,” he concluded.
