‘Birat Manila’ restaurant in UAE shutdown for selling non-halal food

The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (Adafsa) has ordered the temporary closure of Birat Manila Restaurant in the Mussafah area due to violations pertaining to halal food preparation standards.

The restaurant was found to be using the same equipment to prepare both halal and non-halal food, contravening Law No. (2) of 2008 related to food safety in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Such practices are considered a significant risk to public health, as stated by Adafsa on their social media platforms.

Before resuming operations, the establishment is mandated to secure the necessary permits to sell non-halal food. In addition, they must replace the existing equipment and undergo a complete sterilization process.

Adafsa conducts regular assessments of all food outlets in the region and urges the public to report any discrepancies they observe at food establishments via the toll-free number 800555.
