BINI wows Coachella crowd with golden salakot and P-pop anthems

A Filipino act has performed at Coachella for the first time in the festival’s history, with P-pop group BINI taking the Mojave stage on Saturday, April 11 (Philippine time), in what marks a defining moment for Philippine popular music on the global stage.

The eight-member group — Mikha, Aiah, Maloi, Jhoanna, Colet, Sheena, Gwen, and Stacey — opened their set with Shagidi before moving through a catalog that has driven their rise at home and abroad. The performance included Zero Pressure, Karera, Cherry on Top, Salamin Salamin, Blink Twice, and Bikini, with their recently released Blush receiving its first-ever live performance during the set. They closed with Pantropiko.

BINI took the stage dressed in gold outfits and golden salakot before transitioning into shiny beaded pieces in blue, green, and gold — a visual statement that carried the weight of the occasion.

The group’s place in the Coachella 2026 lineup was confirmed last September, putting them alongside internationally established acts including Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, The Strokes, and Addison Rae.

BINI debuted in 2021 with Born to Win, but it was the viral momentum of tracks like Pantropiko, Salamin Salamin, and Karera in 2023 and 2024 that transformed them into a mainstream phenomenon and earned them the title “nation’s girl group.” Their catalog also includes Lagi, I Feel Good, and Huwag Muna Tayong Umuwi.

The group is set to return to Coachella on April 17 for a second performance.
