The Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) will no longer accept cash at any of its customer service centres or treasury sections beginning April 1, requiring all transactions to be settled through digital channels.
Service fees must be directed through one of three approved platforms — Tamm, DARI, or Smarthub — or paid by credit card at service centres. The department noted that bank transfers and digital payment links sent directly to a customer’s phone remain available, but only under exceptional circumstances.
DMT described the shift as a significant step toward building a fully digital payment environment across all entities operating under its umbrella, with the broader aim of delivering what it characterized as a seamless and efficient experience for residents.
