Foreign nationals hoping to build careers in the UAE can now pursue that goal from inside the country, following the rollout of a dedicated visit visa by Dubai’s General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA).
A defining feature of the permit is that applicants no longer require a sponsor or an employer to back their application. That removes a longstanding barrier for candidates who previously had to secure a job offer before arriving.
Holders are free to deal directly with the local labor market once they land. The visa is aimed at people who would rather search for work on the ground than conduct the process from abroad, letting them observe different industries up close, form professional connections, and pinpoint roles suited to their background and expertise.
Applicants can pick the length of stay that works for their situation. Three initial durations are on offer, 60, 90, or 120 days, and the permit can be stretched to as long as 180 days where the relevant rules allow. The window is meant to give candidates enough room to track down vacancies, sit for interviews, and reach out to organizations of interest.
Before making the trip, candidates are expected to satisfy the applicable conditions, follow the correct procedures, and submit the paperwork tied to their particular category and circumstances.
GDRFA has cautioned prospective applicants to confirm that every official requirement has been met and to avoid dealing with unauthorized parties advertising visas or promising jobs.
