The Department of Migrant Workers-National Capital Region (DMW-NCR) handed out a combined P2.3 million in AKSYON Fund financial assistance to 44 overseas Filipino workers on August 15, 2026, with the awarding held at the DMW Central Office in Mandaluyong City. Among those who received support were distressed and repatriated workers along with members of their families.
Before the cash grants were awarded, beneficiaries first sat through a financial awareness seminar meant to guide them on how to properly manage the assistance they were about to receive. DMW-NCR Regional Director Atty. Ace Falconi V. Millar presided over the ceremony that followed.
Millar tied the effort back to the marching orders of the agency’s leadership. “Anong laging sinasabi ni Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac? Ibigay sa OFW yung mabilis na serbisyo, tama na serbisyo, ramdam na serbisyo kahit saan man sila naroroon,” he said.
The AKSYON Fund operates under the UPLIFT initiative pursued by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., which directs the DMW to extend quick relief to workers and their dependents caught in crisis, emergency, or distress situations abroad.
Workers who need help beyond what the fund provides can course their concerns through DMW-NCR, which can endorse them to agencies such as the DSWD, TESDA, DTI, or their local government units when circumstances call for it. The regional office can be reached at the 2nd Floor, Blas F. Ople Building, Ortigas Avenue corner EDSA, Wack-Wack, Mandaluyong City 1501, through ncr@dmw.gov.ph, or by calling (02) 8726-8909.
