Hollywood star and WWE icon John Cena will appear at this year’s Middle East Film & Comic Con, organizers have confirmed. The actor is set to take the stage at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi across the September 12 and 13 weekend.
Cena arrives as the headline name in a guest roster that also features Mackenyu, known for his role in Netflix’s live-action One Piece, and Joonas Suotamo. The Finnish performer portrayed Chewbacca throughout the Star Wars sequel films and later appeared as Lurch in Netflix’s Wednesday. Additional guests are expected to be revealed in the coming days.
The path that brought Cena to global fame is unusually varied. Before entering the ring, he worked as a limousine driver and competed as a bodybuilder in Massachusetts. He went on to claim 17 World Championship titles and became the defining figure of WWE, then transitioned into film. His screen work spans major productions such as The Suicide Squad, Fast and Furious, Barbie, Bumblebee, and Superman, built across hundreds of starring and supporting appearances.
His accomplishments extend well beyond acting and wrestling. Cena holds the Guinness World Record for granting more Make-A-Wish Foundation wishes than anyone else. He has written a run of best-selling children’s books, regularly takes on narration and production duties for television sports programming, and released a rap album named after his well-known catchphrase, “You Can’t See Me.”
Attendees at the ADNEC Centre will find a Meet the Stars zone, where fans can secure autograph sessions, photo opportunities, and direct interaction with featured guests. The convention also programs celebrity panels, cosplay presentations, gaming areas, and comic book showcases, and forms part of the Abu Dhabi Calendar of events staged throughout the year.
On pricing, single-day passes run AED 160 for Friday, AED 190 for Saturday, and AED 160 for Sunday, while a three-day pass costs AED 390. Entry is free for children six and under, and passes for ages 7 to 11 cost AED 50 at the door. VIP tickets have already sold out, with standard passes still available.
