A public auction now looms over impounded property left sitting in Sharjah’s yards, after the city municipality set a four-day window for owners to reclaim vehicles and equipment held beyond the half-year mark.
The notice covers a broad range of assets: cars, machinery, motorcycles and bicycles that have remained in impoundment for over six months. Owners falling into that category have been directed to report to the Control and Inspection Department, located in Industrial Area 5, where they must settle the reasons behind the seizure and finalize the paperwork needed to take their property back.
Anyone who lets the four-day window pass without acting stands to lose their belongings entirely, as the municipality intends to sell whatever goes unclaimed at public auction once the deadline expires.
To help owners determine whether they are affected, the municipality posted a list of the impounded items on its official website. Those unsure about their status can consult the listing ahead of any visit to the department.
The municipality framed the campaign as part of a wider push to bring order to how impounded assets are handled and to press owners toward meeting the legal steps required of them inside the set timeframe.
