Japanese actor Mackenyu, widely recognized for portraying Roronoa Zoro in Netflix’s live-action One Piece, has been confirmed as the first celebrity guest for the 2026 edition of Middle East Film & Comic Con (MEFCC), scheduled to take place from Sept. 11 to 13 at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi.
Fans attending the three-day convention will have the chance to meet the actor through autograph signings, photo sessions and live stage appearances. Organizers said Mackenyu is the first of several celebrity guests expected to be announced ahead of the event.
Tickets for MEFCC 2026 are now available, with prices starting at AED 160. Organizers also revealed the first artists joining this year’s Comic Creators Club: Jim Cheung, Frederico Vicentini and Brett Beeding, whose work has featured in major comic book titles including The Avengers, Amazing Spider-Man, Wolverine and The Death of Superman.
Returning to Abu Dhabi for another year, the convention is set to bring together entertainment personalities, creators and pop culture fans from across the region. The event will feature more than a dozen attractions covering comics, gaming, anime, film and interactive experiences.
Visitors can explore themed areas such as the Otaku District, Gaming Arena, Tabletop Zone and TCG Arena, while the Festival Stage will host live performances, contests and other fan-focused activities.
The convention will also include Artist Alley, the annual cosplay competition, interactive workshops, discussion panels, merchandise and collectibles, as well as comic books and memorabilia available throughout the weekend.
