Looking forward to the next long weekend? Check the UAE’s remaining holidays

As the UAE’s long Eid Al Adha break comes to an end on Sunday, May 31, many residents are already looking ahead to the country’s next public holidays and planning future trips, staycations, and long weekends.

The next expected public holiday in the UAE is the Islamic New Year, also known as Hijri New Year, which is forecast to fall around June 16, 2026. However, the date remains tentative and will be confirmed closer to the occasion based on the official moon sighting.

Following that, residents can look forward to the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) Birthday, currently expected around August 25, 2026. Like other Islamic holidays, the final date is subject to moon-sighting confirmation and may vary.

The year will conclude with UAE National Day, also known as Eid Al Etihad, which is observed on December 2 and 3. Unlike lunar-calendar holidays, these dates are fixed and officially scheduled.

The UAE recently observed a four-day Eid Al Adha public holiday from May 26 to 29, which became a longer break for many residents due to the weekend. While the remaining holidays in 2026 are fewer, residents are already counting down to their next official day off, with authorities expected to announce confirmed dates for the Islamic occasions closer to each holiday.
