Filipino businessman caught at NAIA with three pending bouncing check cases

A Filipino businessman was taken into custody at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Domestic Terminal on Tuesday after authorities received advance information about his arrival, allowing police to move quickly to execute an outstanding court warrant against him.

The 55-year-old Zamboanga native, who also maintains a residence in Quezon City, was apprehended by personnel from NAIA Police Station 3 and the Special Operations Unit-Special Reaction Team following a tip coordinated between a complainant and Manila Police District’s Barbosa Police Station 14.

A bench warrant issued by the Metropolitan Trial Court of Quezon City was served at the time of arrest, covering three criminal cases for violation of the Bouncing Checks Law, also known as Batas Pambansa Blg. 22. Recommended bail for the three cases was set at P90,000.

The Philippine National Police-Aviation Security Group said the suspect was apprised of his constitutional rights prior to being turned over to Barbosa Police Station 14, with standard arrest procedures observed throughout.
