Government assistance was already in place when Emirates Flight EK334 touched down at NAIA Terminal 3 on the night of April 30, bringing 120 Filipinos home from Dubai.
Representatives from the Department of Migrant Workers, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development were at the airport to receive the arrivals. Food, financial assistance, and temporary accommodation for those who needed it were made available upon landing.
Arrangements for onward travel to the passengers’ home provinces were also in place, with domestic flights and land transportation assistance coordinated for those heading to regions outside Metro Manila. A number of the returnees have since reached their families.
The government’s response is being carried out under a directive from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to ensure prompt and humane delivery of services to Filipinos wherever they may be.
