SILA turns 77: Alumni from near and far invited to July homecoming celebration

Saint Ignatius Loyola Academy, Inc. (SILA) is inviting all alumni to come home this July as the school commemorates its 77th Anniversary with what organizers are billing as the grandest homecoming celebration in the school’s history.

The private institution, located on Panaon Island in Southern Leyte, holds the distinction of being the first and only private school on the island. It was established in May 1948 by founder Mr. Simeon A.B., with a mission centered on providing quality education and holistic formation to the youth of the community.

More than seven decades since its founding, SILA continues to operate under that same mandate. Under the leadership of School Director Dr. Miguel C. Maamo II and School Principal Mrs. Carolina T. Saliente, the institution maintains its focus on academic excellence and values formation — producing graduates who have gone on to distinguish themselves in both local and international fields.

The upcoming homecoming celebration is seen as an opportunity for alumni to reconnect with their roots and honor the school’s enduring legacy in Liloan and across Southern Leyte.

Further details on the event, including schedules and registration, are expected to be announced through official SILA channels.
