The Philippines and Albania are moving toward a broader labor partnership, with Tirana signaling it needs tens of thousands of foreign workers to fill vacancies across its tourism, hospitality, and service industries.
Non-Resident Ambassador-designate of Albania to the Philippines H.E. Ermal Muça disclosed the figure — roughly 20,000 positions — during a meeting Tuesday with senior Department of Migrant Workers officials, including Undersecretary Felicitas Q. Bay and Assistant Secretary Levinson C. Alcantara.
Both governments agreed during the discussions to build out labor mobility frameworks and refine deployment systems aimed at ensuring workers are sent abroad through safe and orderly channels.
Ambassador Muça framed the expansion as a reflection of deepening bilateral labor relations, one that he said should translate to broader employment access for Filipinos backed by clearer procedures, fair working conditions, and firmer protections against illegal recruitment.
The DMW has not yet announced a timeline for when deployments to Albania could begin or what accreditation requirements employers would need to meet.
