Kuwait expands terrorism blacklist with 25 new designations

A Kuwaiti government committee has added 25 individuals to the country’s national terrorism list, comprising 24 Kuwaiti nationals and one foreign citizen, pushing the total number of designated persons and entities to 219.

The Special Committee responsible for enforcing UN Security Council resolutions under Chapter VII of the UN Charter — which covers counter-terrorism and the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction — announced the updated designations, according to Al Rai Arabic daily.

Those newly listed face immediate legal and financial consequences. Authorities confirmed that the designations trigger mandatory asset freezes covering funds and economic resources held directly or indirectly by the named individuals, and bar third parties from extending financial or related services to them.

The committee directed that the listing decisions be carried out in line with the relevant provisions of its executive regulations. The updated blacklist covers designated persons and entities based both inside and outside Kuwait.
