RTA deal brings free parking, toll waivers and cheaper rides to Dubai’s most vulnerable residents

A new memorandum of understanding between the Roads and Transport Authority and the Ministry of Community Development will deliver a range of financial relief measures across Dubai’s transport network for three groups: senior Emiratis, students, and people of determination.

The agreement falls under the ‘Family First’ programme and covers several distinct benefit categories. People of determination stand to gain the broadest package — full exemptions from Salik toll charges, parking fees, public transport fares, and vehicle registration and renewal costs, alongside a 50 percent reduction in both taxi fares and driver licensing fees.

Senior Emiratis will no longer be required to pay parking fees under the arrangement, and will also benefit from discounted public transport fares. Students are included in the reduced public transport fare provision as well.

The deal formalises transport concessions that touch multiple layers of daily mobility costs, from routine commuting expenses to the administrative fees tied to vehicle ownership.
