The UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has pushed back against media reports about the residency status of Iranians living in the country, describing the circulating claims as inaccurate.
In a statement released Wednesday, the ministry said the Iranian community holds a valued place in UAE society, describing it as part of the country’s broader social fabric. Officials framed the community’s presence as consistent with the UAE’s identity as a nation of over 200 nationalities.
The ministry said its handling of residency matters follows established institutional procedures designed to protect the welfare of all residents, and it offered reassurances that no group is treated as an exception to those frameworks.
The statement also reiterated the government’s position that rule of law underpins its approach to managing a population drawn from across the globe — one it described as a reflection of longstanding national values around tolerance and coexistence.
The ministry did not specify which media reports prompted the clarification or detail what claims were being disputed.
