Filipino workers in Qatar safe as ambassador reports 5-day missile-free stretch

The child of an overseas Filipino worker remains the only recorded casualty among the Filipino community in Qatar since the country was drawn into the widening Middle East conflict, according to an exclusive report by Bombo Radyo.

Philippine Ambassador to Qatar Mardomel Celo Melicor described the injury as minor — the young woman sustained scrapes after debris fell on a structure where she had been using a computer. She was treated and discharged shortly after.

No additional Filipino casualties or injuries have been reported since.

Amb. Melicor told Bombo Radyo that Qatar has gone five days without a missile strike, with Filipino workers continuing their regular work routines throughout the duration of the conflict. The ambassador credited Qatar’s defense systems for intercepting Iranian-launched missiles, describing the interception capability as effective.

Filipino workers in the country also receive real-time alerts from the Qatari government each time a missile is launched that could reach Qatari territory, giving them advance warning before any potential impact.

While the ambassador could not say when the conflict would end, he expressed confidence that conditions in Qatar would return to normal, pointing to the government’s active protection of foreign workers as a stabilizing factor.
