No need to go home just to file a claim, SSS reminds OFWs amid Middle East tensions

The Social Security System has moved to reassure Filipino workers stationed in the Middle East that ongoing hostilities in the region will not cut them off from their benefits and financial services.

SSS president Robert Joseph de Claro confirmed Thursday that the agency’s My.SSS Portal remains fully operational, allowing members abroad to file claims and submit loan applications without needing to visit a physical office.

“Even in these challenging times, our digital infrastructure ensures seamless service delivery… Members in the Middle East need not worry; they can manage their accounts safely from anywhere with internet access,” de Claro said.

Among the digital tools now available to members is an online face verification system for the Annual Confirmation of Pensioners, which the SSS launched on March 11 as part of its broader digitalization program. The system is designed to let pensioners complete the mandatory confirmation process remotely, without requiring in-person appearance.

De Claro said the agency continues to work on strengthening its platforms to make benefit access easier for OFWs regardless of where they are deployed.

“These tools were purpose-built to empower OFWs, allowing transactions ‘whenever, wherever’ even in crisis zones,” he said.

The SSS chief added that the agency’s commitment to its members extends beyond stable conditions. “We remain committed to supporting our OFWs through innovation and resilience, no matter the circumstances,” de Claro said.
