Yas Waterworld to open major expansion on April 4 with UAE’s tallest waterslide

Abu Dhabi’s Yas Waterworld is set to debut eleven new attractions next month, including a waterslide that stands over 40 meters tall — the highest in the UAE.

The April 4 opening adds to the park’s ongoing ‘Lost City’ themed buildout, which is anchored by its ‘Legend of the Lost Pearl’ narrative. When the new section launches, Yas Waterworld’s total ride and attraction count will exceed 70.

Headlining the additions is Matamir’s Drop, a freefall slide that sends riders down a 233-meter run after a near-vertical plunge. A companion attraction, Sahel Matamir, functions as a freefall tube racer, pushing riders through rapid acceleration and weightless moments along its course.

The expansion also brings Matamir Loop, a body slide designed for high-speed descents, and Matamir Twist – Matamir Lights, which pairs fast drops with lighting effects built into the ride environment. Guests looking for head-to-head competition can try Matamir Splash, a side-by-side mat racer.

Beyond the slides, the new zone includes Al Afda, a jump platform for those wanting a straightforward leap into the water, and Sarab, a leisure pool designed as a calmer option for families.

Jonathan Brown, Chief Portfolio Officer at Miral, said: “The expansion of Yas Waterworld marks an important milestone in our commitment to delivering world-class entertainment experiences on Yas Island. With eleven new slides and attractions, we are enhancing the park’s offering with fresh thrills and immersive adventures for guests of all ages. As Abu Dhabi continues to grow as a global tourism hub, we remain focused on further positioning Yas Island as a top global destination for entertainment and leisure.”
