A reward of half a million pesos and witness protection are on the table for the motorcycle rider who accompanied the gunman that killed retired police officer George Capistrano, 56, in Tondo last Sunday.
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno announced the offer via Facebook Live, giving the accomplice a 48-hour window to come forward. Beyond the suspect himself, Moreno also called on the man’s relatives to help bring about a surrender.
Capistrano, who had previously served as Moreno’s security escort, was killed by motorcycle-riding gunmen. The Manila Police District has since launched a manhunt for those responsible.
Moreno has linked the suspects to a robbery syndicate believed to be active across Metro Manila.
The mayor extended his condolences to the Capistrano family and pledged that those behind the killing would face justice.
