Filipino-led training institution celebrates one year of operations with partners

GEMS Global Institute brought together its partners and collaborators in Bahrain for a combined year-end and anniversary gathering that also coincided with the birthday of its President and Chief Executive Officer, Gem B. Reyes, placing the focus on leadership, institutional development, and cross-border collaboration.

Rather than a purely social affair, the event highlighted the institute’s first year of operations and the systems built to support its work in education and skills development. Trainers, institutional partners, and stakeholders from various sectors were present, reflecting the network that has grown alongside the organization since its establishment. The program was hosted by Princess Caranto.

The evening formally began with a prayer and blessing led by Pastor Ignar Reyes. In her opening remarks, Ms. Reyes outlined the organization’s progress over the past year and acknowledged the role of the management team, trainers, and partners in advancing its initiatives and maintaining operational momentum.

A video presentation followed, documenting the institute’s first-year activities, including training programs, partnerships, and community engagements. The presentation underscored GEMS Global Institute’s emphasis on quality standards, innovation, and measurable impact in its projects.

Chief Financial Officer Flora Medallon later addressed the gathering, discussing the organization’s approach to financial management and sustainability. She highlighted the importance of disciplined growth and sound financial practices in ensuring long-term stability as the institute continues to expand its reach.

Another segment featured recorded messages from family members, partners, and friends based in different countries. The greetings were led by Ms. Reyes’ sister, Jocelyn Villanueva, together with loved ones abroad, illustrating the international support network connected to the institute’s leadership. Attendees also offered personal messages during the program.

Among those present were Thahir Erakkoden, business partner for the GEMS KSA branch; Rosemarie Hernandez, President of the Filipino Club; Dr. Junifer Abatayo; Kath Canosa; Arlyn Gorospe; and Nanju Francisco, Editor-in-Chief of Pinoy Aksyon News Bahrain, along with other community and institutional partners.

Closing remarks were delivered by Dr. Benson Castillejos, who reiterated the institute’s mission of strengthening communities through education and skills development, both locally and internationally.
