Akon and Ne-Yo to headline R&B Night at World Tennis League in Abu Dhabi

World Tennis League (WTL) has unveiled that global R&B sensations, Akon and Ne-Yo, will be joining the star-studded entertainment roster at Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Arena. The artists are set to dazzle the audience with their headline performance during a special ‘R&B evening’ concert on Friday, 22nd December.

This concert will wrap up a day filled with exceptional tennis displays from some of the globe’s finest players. The duo will be joining an impressive list of global music icons including 50 Cent, UB40, The Original Wailers, and Trojan Sound System, who have been previously confirmed for the event on Yas Island.

Akon, known for his unique fusion of R&B, hip-hop, and pop, has consistently enthralled global audiences. Alongside chart-toppers such as ‘Right Now (Na Na Na)’, ‘Lonely’, and ‘I Wanna Love You’, he boasts a Grammy win for ‘Smack That’, his collaboration with Eminem.

The evening is particularly significant as it marks a reunion for Akon and Ne-Yo, following their 2011 collaboration with David Guetta on the hit ‘Play Hard’.

Ne-Yo’s trajectory in the music industry has been meteoric. He made a mark by penning ‘Let Me Love You’ for Mario and has since bagged three Grammy awards, with hits like ‘Miss Independent’, ‘So Sick’, and ‘Closer’. Fans can expect a scintillating performance with some of these massive hits at the Etihad Arena, coinciding with the new season of the World Tennis League.

Rajesh Banga, Chairman of World Tennis League, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Akon and Ne-Yo have shaped R&B music on the global stage with iconic hits that continue to captivate international fans. We are ecstatic to have them perform at this year’s World Tennis League, ensuring an unforgettable night for our audience.”

Tickets for the event have been released and are rapidly being snapped up. They can be procured from the Etihad Arena website, Platinum List, and Virgin Megastores. For more information, visit etihadarena.ae.
