A shocking CCTV footage reveals a salesman stealing money that was left outside a residential flat in the city center on Saturday night. The man was visiting the building to affix promotional stickers for a telecom brand when he noticed money wrapped in paper under an empty water can and decided to take it.
The incident occurred in a building where residents customarily left money out for their Sunday morning water can deliveries. M.A., the resident affected by the theft, told Khaleej Times, “It’s not about the money, but the act itself is shocking.” He was appalled to discover the theft the next morning when the water delivery staff informed him that only a few coins were found wrapped in the paper.
With the help of the building’s CCTV, M.A. was able to identify the salesman as the thief, absolving the water delivery staff from suspicion. M.A. remarked, “Installing a CCTV has been a boon, otherwise, I would have suspected the innocent water can delivery staff.”
Despite M.A.’s attempts to contact the telecom company via the number on the sticker, the representative defended the salesman and failed to address the issue further.
Jaffar, a deliveryman for the water can company, pointed out that such incidents are increasingly common in popular residential areas. Residents typically leave money or coupons under water cans, leading to suspicions against water delivery staff when the money goes missing.
