A former overseas Filipino worker who once sailed the seas is now making waves on the streets of Batangas for his acts of kindness as a jeepney driver.
Adonis Endrinal, a 50-year-old ex-seaman, has been winning hearts for offering free rides and water to birthday celebrants, persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and single mothers. His initiative, which he started in 2017, continues to touch the lives of countless commuters.
“Ginagawa ko lang po ito para lang magpasaya ng mga commuters,” Endrinal shared in a Latest Chika report. Despite living on modest earnings, he insists on shouldering the costs himself, occasionally receiving small donations from supportive strangers.
Endrinal’s journey took a turn when he developed hearing problems, forcing him to give up his job at sea. Before retiring as an OFW, he invested in a jeepney with the hopes of using it one day—a decision that would later define his purpose back home.
While the transition wasn’t easy, Adonis found joy behind the wheel. “Masarap po magpasaya ng pasahero, lalung-lalo na ngayon sa hirap ng buhay,” he said, reflecting on the smiles, applause, and heartfelt messages he often receives from passengers.
His efforts haven’t gone unnoticed. The local government of Batangas once honored him for his generosity, and his story continues to inspire, especially among fellow OFWs who have extended financial help during the pandemic.
