Man caught smuggling cocaine under wig at airport

A 40-year-old Colombian man was arrested at Rafael Núñez International Airport after authorities discovered he was attempting to smuggle £8,000 worth of cocaine hidden beneath a wig.

The suspect was preparing to board a flight to Amsterdam when police uncovered 19 capsules of the drug, weighing 220 grams, concealed under the hairpiece. Footage released by authorities showed officers cutting off the wig to reveal the stash.

Colombian national police confirmed the man was taken into custody on suspicion of drug trafficking, manufacturing, and distribution. Officials stated that the seizure prevented the sale of over 400 doses of cocaine, valued at more than €10,000 (£8,296) on the international market.

Police commander Gelver Yecid Peña Araque highlighted ongoing efforts to combat drug smuggling, revealing that more than 450 individuals have been arrested for similar offenses this year. He urged the public to report criminal activities, emphasizing the role of the community in dismantling drug networks.
