The UAE has extended its heartfelt condolences to the United States following the deadly wildfires that ravaged California, claiming at least 10 lives, injuring many, and displacing tens of thousands.
In a statement on Friday, January 10, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveyed the UAE’s sympathy to the victims’ families and expressed solidarity with the US during this tragic time. The ministry also wished a swift recovery for those injured in the disaster.
The wildfires, described as the most destructive in Los Angeles history, have engulfed 34,000 acres, or roughly 53 square miles, since they ignited. The Palisades Fire near Malibu and the Eaton Fire east of Pasadena destroyed nearly 10,000 homes and structures, leaving neighborhoods in ashes. Firefighters gained some respite as fierce winds subsided, but the flames continued to rage into a third night.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner updated the death toll to 10 late Thursday, underscoring the magnitude of the tragedy.
