Davao Conyo condemns clout-chasing content amid Maris and Anthony controversy

In light of the ongoing controversy surrounding Kapamilya actress Maris Racal and actor Anthony Jennings, content creator Davao Conyo added his voice to the discourse, advocating for empathy and accountability over mockery and clout-chasing.

The controversy began when Jennings’ ex-girlfriend, Jamela Villanueva, posted screenshots of private conversations alleging infidelity involving Racal and Jennings. The issue quickly gained traction, with both celebrities addressing the matter. Racal admitted to her involvement, saying, “Nagkamali ako, and I wanna say sorry for everything I have done.”

While the public remains divided on the issue, Davao Conyo took to his Instagram Stories to share his thoughts after being asked by an anonymous netizen to create an “entry” about Racal. Known for his comedic skits, the content creator took a serious tone, emphasizing the need for respect and responsible behavior in such situations.

“Making fun of others for the sake of quick views is one of the lowest forms of content. It’s lazy and malicious,” he said. “Shaming a mistake is different from shaming an evil person.”

Davao Conyo went on to warn his followers against individuals who exploit others’ missteps for personal gain. “These types of people who take advantage of other people’s shame will do the same to you if you were in the same situation, so be very careful around them,” he added.

His remarks struck a chord with many Filipinos online, earning him praise for his empathetic approach. One Facebook user commented, “Yan ang gusto ko kay Davao Conyo. Kaya niyang magpatawa ng hindi na kailangan pang manggamit ng ibang tao.”

Adding to the discourse, Ian Veneracion, who co-stars with Racal and Jennings in the upcoming action drama Incognito, defended his colleagues and called for restraint from the public. “It’s a private issue between two individuals. Let’s just chill and not make it our business,” he said.
