The Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is set to elevate the student commuting experience in the upcoming academic year. An advanced fleet of buses will serve approximately 25,000 students throughout the emirate.
The move to upgrade the school transport fleet is in line with both local and international quality and safety standards. This initiative ensures that students have a safe and dependable mode of transport to and from schools.
Ammar Rashid Al Braiki, Director of Fleet Operation at DTC, emphasized the strategic intent behind this endeavor. “Leveraging DTC’s vast experience and harnessing cutting-edge bus technologies, we aim to reassure parents and the community about the safety of students during their daily commutes,” said Al Braiki.
These high-tech buses come packed with an array of smart features:
- Surveillance cameras to monitor on-board activities.
- A system ensuring no student is inadvertently left behind after each trip.
- Motion detectors to track student movement during transit.
- An emergency alert system linking directly to the emergency management center.
- A sophisticated GPS-based tracking system.
- A Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system to facilitate smoother boarding and disembarking processes.
- An automatic engine fire-suppression system.
This progressive step is in tandem with Dubai’s rigorous safety and oversight standards. It also cements DTC’s commitment to forging a lasting relationship with the Emirates Schools Establishment in school transport services.
