he Dubai Police apprehended a hit-and-run driver just under three hours following the incident.
The 24-year-old Asian male is alleged to have severely injured a 27-year-old man and fled the scene, intending to escape the country.
The accident, which took place in the Al Quoz Industrial Area last Sunday, saw the victim swiftly transported to Rashid Hospital for emergency treatment.
A quick response was prompted after the Command and Control Room received a tip-off about the incident at around 10:00 pm.
Colonel Abdel Moneim Abdel Rahman Muhammed, the Acting Director of Bur Dubai Police Station, detailed the rapid sequence of events.
“The young Asian man was hit while crossing a side street. The driver responsible then abandoned his vehicle and attempted to leave the country,” he explained.
The vehicle, which was quickly located by specialized police units, had evident damage.
“Once the suspect’s car was found, we were able to identify and arrest him within three hours of the accident,” Col. Abdel Moneim said.
The Colonel also stressed the importance of pedestrian safety and the need for motorists to take responsibility.
He noted that pedestrians often risk their safety by crossing from non-designated areas and that drivers should never leave the scene of an accident.
“Both behaviors are not just irresponsible but are also criminal offenses,” he emphasized.
