Converge, a leading broadband provider, has announced the provision of free internet services to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) at the OFW lounge in NAIA Terminal 1. This initiative aims to enhance the digital experience of OFWs during their stay at the Philippines’ transit hubs.
The OFW lounge, inaugurated in January 2024, serves as a modern facility dedicated to the comfort of OFWs. Equipped with Converge’s connectivity boasting 500 Mbps upload and download speeds, it provides a seamless online experience for users.
Benjamin Azada, Converge’s Chief Sustainability Officer, expressed appreciation for the collaborative effort behind the project. “We laud this project…to provide a designated place for our hard-working kababayans while they await their flights,” Azada stated. “To contribute to this effort, we have provided our fiber broadband connectivity for their use for 2 hours.”
OFW passengers can access the free wifi by logging on to the Converge landing page. Existing Converge subscribers enjoy additional hours of connectivity, extending their digital experience.
This initiative aligns with Converge’s Sustainability Agenda, particularly focusing on Creating Positive Community Impact. Dennis Anthony Uy, Converge CEO and Co-Founder, emphasized the importance of high-quality connectivity for OFWs. “Our OFWs deserve no less than this seamless, high-quality connectivity to keep them connected to their loved ones and their employers abroad,” said Uy.
Converge has recently completed the roll-out of its Free WIFI project in all terminals of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). Plans are underway to extend this service to eight more airports nationwide in the coming months.
