Three Filipino residents were taken into custody by Saudi authorities after allegedly engaging in unauthorized fishing activities in the Kingdom’s territorial waters, according to the Border Guard.
The arrests were carried out by coastal patrol units in Yanbu governorate, located in the Madinah region. Authorities said the individuals were found fishing without the required permits and were also using equipment that is not allowed under existing regulations.
Officials confirmed that legal action has been initiated against the three individuals in coordination with the concerned government agencies.
The Border Guard reminded residents and maritime workers to comply with rules designed to safeguard marine life and preserve aquatic resources. It also encouraged the public to report environmental and wildlife-related violations through emergency hotline 911 in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, and 994 in other areas of the Kingdom, noting that all reports are handled confidentially and that informants will not be held liable.
