The parents of the infant who became the center of concern for OPM artist Juan Karlos during a concert in Paniqui, Tarlac, have come forward to share their story. Niel Patrick Tubino and Fyan, the parents of 7-month-old Fiyana, explained that their attendance at the concert was specifically for their daughter, who finds solace in the music of Juan Karlos.
Addressing misconceptions about their baby’s age, Niel clarified in a GMA News Online report, “Netizens said our baby is only 2 months old. She’s not 2 months. She’s almost 8 months.” The couple shared footage from the concert showing the moment Juan Karlos read their banner, which read, “Even just one hold from your youngest fan, Kuya JK.”
Fyan revealed her daughter’s early love for Juan Karlos’ music, which began when Fiyana was just 2 months old. The song “Ere” has been a lullaby to Fiyana, calming her when nothing else could. Despite concerns over the appropriateness of the song’s language for a child, Fyan assured that the melody, not the words, is what soothes Fiyana.
The parents also recounted the moment at the concert when Juan Karlos addressed their baby’s crying, which they attributed to her surprise at the crowd’s noise, not discomfort or fear. They further debunked rumors of using their child to gain the artist’s attention, emphasizing that their presence at the concert was solely for their daughter’s happiness.
Addressing the backlash from online commentators, Niel and Fyan stood by their decision, backed by medical advice regarding their baby’s comfort and safety. They also expressed gratitude towards Juan Karlos for his kindness towards Fiyana, highlighting it as a memorable experience they’ll cherish.
