The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has recently concluded multiple traffic-related projects in Hatta, Oud Al Muteena 1, and Al Sufouh 1, aiming to bolster the efficiency of the emirate’s road network. These initiatives, heralded by RTA CEO Hussain Al Banna, are set to alleviate congestion and heighten safety for all road users.
In Hatta, Phase II of development projects witnessed the completion of crucial endeavors. This included the construction of the Hatta Souq roundabout on the Dubai-Hatta Road, significantly slashing travel times by 60%. Furthermore, a new U-turn near Wadi Hub has been established to facilitate smoother access to tourist attractions, aligning with RTA’s commitment to enhancing traffic safety in the region.
Meanwhile, in Oud Al Muteena 1, RTA’s efforts focused on expanding Street 31 from a single lane to dual lanes in both directions, alongside the provision of side parking near the Emirates Cooperative Society. These enhancements aim to double the street’s capacity, accommodating up to 2,400 vehicles per hour, and are anticipated to relieve traffic congestion while bolstering safety for shoppers and commuters.
Moreover, Al Sufouh 1 saw the development of a parking facility with 112 slots and the implementation of a roundabout near Choueifat School on Hessa Street. This strategic move aims to streamline vehicular flow, particularly during student drop-off and pick-up times, ensuring adherence to the highest traffic safety standards.
The selection of areas for enhancement is meticulously carried out by RTA through an operational system that incorporates traffic studies, control centers, public feedback mechanisms, and on-ground observations by RTA teams.
