Ninety-nine Filipino workers have safely returned to the Philippines after completing an overland evacuation route from Kuwait, touching down at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 on Monday aboard Gulf Air Flight GF154.
The group traveled by land for roughly eight hours, crossing into Saudi Arabia through Dammam before their flight home — an route reflecting the logistical challenges involved in repatriating workers from the region amid current conditions.
Officials from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and the Department of Migrant Workers were at the terminal to receive the returning workers, providing immediate assistance that included meals, transportation, and other support services to help them transition back to civilian life.
The repatriation was carried out under orders from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. as part of a continuing whole-of-government effort to secure the welfare of Filipinos working abroad.
