Government welfare officials were on hand at the airport Thursday morning to receive 97 overseas Filipino workers who touched down from Dubai aboard Emirates Flight EK336, marking another batch brought home under the state’s repatriation program.
The returning workers arrived at the Philippine Trade Training Center holding area, where the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration provided immediate post-arrival support. That assistance covered meals, cash aid, temporary lodging for those who needed it, and coordination of onward domestic flights or land travel so the workers could reach their home provinces and reunite with family.
The group was made up of two categories of returnees. Some had chosen to come home voluntarily given the current conditions across the Middle East, while others were repatriated through regular channels after raising a range of employment-related concerns.
OWWA said its role does not end at the arrival gate. Through its Regional Welfare Offices, the agency intends to keep supporting the workers as they rebuild, offering reintegration programs, livelihood aid, and other services aimed at opening fresh opportunities and a steadier path forward.
Meeting the flight alongside OWWA were the Department of Migrant Workers and several partner agencies, which the administration said were mobilized to ensure the workers’ return was orderly, safe, and handled with dignity.
