Government welfare agencies met a group of returning Filipinos at the airport this week as they arrived from the United Arab Emirates, part of ongoing efforts to support workers who had faced hardship abroad.
The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) said its assistance would continue well past the terminal, with regional welfare offices tasked to monitor the returnees’ situations and deliver welfare support and other services as the workers and their families settle back into life in the Philippines.
A total of 30 individuals—26 distressed OFWs along with four dependents—landed at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 aboard Emirates Flight EK334. Personnel from OWWA and the Department of Migrant Workers received the group and provided airport assistance upon arrival.
OWWA characterized the reception as part of its continuing commitment to Filipino workers and their families, describing its role as a partner to overseas Filipinos from the moment they arrive safely through their efforts to rebuild alongside loved ones back home.
