With temperatures climbing across the emirate, drivers in Abu Dhabi are being cautioned that neglected tyres can turn deadly on the road. Authorities have pointed to the season’s intense heat as a factor that raises the odds of blowouts, which in turn can trigger loss of vehicle control and severe collisions.
At the heart of the message is a call for regular tyre checks. Officers want motorists to confirm that their tyres match approved technical standards and to swap out any that are worn or damaged before those defects escalate into a hazard. Keeping tyres inflated to the levels specified by the manufacturer, along with staying current on overall vehicle upkeep, was highlighted as another way to cut down on crashes.
The guidance is being delivered through two linked road safety drives, “Safe Summer” and “Summer Without Accidents.” Both are run by the Traffic Directorate and Security Patrols, which have teamed up with Al Futtaim Group, Michelin and the Central Auto and Equipment Company to carry the campaigns out.
On the ground, personnel and their partners have been examining tyres and testing air pressure for drivers who stopped by. Educational leaflets and safety guidance were handed out, and officers fielded questions from motorists on how to look after their tyres and drive safely through the hotter months.
Abu Dhabi Police framed the outreach as an ongoing effort, saying further public awareness activities and continued cooperation with community partners are planned to encourage safer habits behind the wheel throughout the emirate.
