Willie Revillame joins TV5 for exciting new project, sets sights on fresh opportunities

Popular TV host Willie Revillame has officially inked a contract with TV5 for a new “joint venture,” marking a significant move in his career. Speaking during the contract signing on Friday, April 26, 2024, Revillame expressed his dedication to his work, stating, “Para lang akong OFW… kung saan ka may trabahong maayos at tanggap ka, doon mo pagbubutihan (I’m just like an OFW… wherever you have a decent job and acceptance, that’s where you should excel).”

Revillame, known for hosting the noontime program “Wowowee” in ABS-CBN and later “Wowowin” in various networks including TV5 and GMA Network, reflected on his career journey. “No bitterness, no hatred in my heart. Marami ng nasabi na kung anu-ano pero sa akin, natural iyon, kasama sa buhay yan (No bitterness, no hatred in my heart. Many things have been said, but for me, that’s natural, it’s part of life),” he said, indicating his acceptance of this new chapter.

Expressing gratitude to his former network GMA, Revillame acknowledged the support he received, particularly in retaining his social media following. “May mga desisyon ka sa buhay na, may utang na loob ka gagawin mo. [But] hindi nila [GMA] pinagkait sa akin yung 24 millions subscribers ng Facebook at YouTube, maraming salamat sa GMA (You will make several life decisions based on debt of gratitude. I’m grateful, though, that GMA didn’t deprive me of the 24 million subscribers on Facebook and YouTube. So thank you very much to GMA),” he expressed.

Looking ahead, Revillame confirmed his upcoming hosting role on TV5 but withheld further details. Additionally, he will serve as creative director for the undisclosed joint venture, as announced by TV5 in a separate social media post.

“Hindi lang yung bagong programa ko ang mahalaga, even TV5, kung ano yung maitutulong ko — creativity, ideas — kahit walang bayad, I’m willing to do that for TV5 (It’s not just about my new program being important, even for TV5, I’m willing to contribute what I can — creativity, ideas — even without payment),” Revillame emphasized.

Finally, Revillame expressed his motivation for joining TV5, stating, “Ang pagdating ko dito, hindi para sa akin, para sa mga kababayan nating naghahanap ng saya ligaya at pag-asa at magiging parte po ako nya dito sa TV5 (Joining TV5 is not for myself but for our fellow countrymen seeking joy, hope and I will be a part of that here at TV5).”

Present at the contract signing were key figures from MediaQuest Holdings and TV5, including CFO John Andal, FVP Channels and Content Management of CignalTV and MediaQuest head of special projects Sienna Olaso, TV5 president and CEO Guido Zaballero, and MediaQuest Holdings and Cignal TV president Jane Basas.
