Wet weather to linger in parts of UAE until Tuesday, says meteorology centre

Light to heavy rainfall swept several parts of the UAE on Sunday, affecting areas such as Hail, Mohammed Bin Zayed City in Fujairah, Kalba, Washah in Sharjah, Saih Al Saadi, and Adhan in Ras Al Khaimah.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said rain is likely to persist through Monday and Tuesday in inland and southern regions, as well as on the islands. The unstable weather is linked to a surface low-pressure system accompanied by another low-pressure system in the upper atmosphere.

The NCM urged the public to remain cautious, especially during strong winds and heavy rain that could cause flying debris and poor visibility. People were also reminded to stay away from flood-prone and landslide areas.

Abu Dhabi and nearby areas are expected to experience intermittent rain of varying intensity until Tuesday, with occasional moderate to strong winds. Al Ain and Al Dhafra may also see scattered downpours, possibly heavy at times with cloud buildup and small hail.

Forecasters said Monday’s weather would be generally clear to partly cloudy, with cumulus clouds likely to form over northern and eastern regions before spreading inland. Winds are forecast to blow at 15 to 30 km/h, occasionally reaching 55 km/h, possibly causing dust and sandstorms. Sea conditions will range from light to moderate, becoming rough at times in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

On Tuesday, skies will remain partly cloudy with a chance of rain in the east and south, while Wednesday is expected to be clearer with occasional low clouds. Overnight humidity could lead to light fog in some coastal and inland areas, with winds shifting from southeasterly to northwesterly at speeds up to 40 km/h. The sea will remain generally calm to moderate in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
